"It's about embracing vulnerability in love..."

Indie-pop artist better joy, hailing from Manchester, has unveiled her second EP, ‘at dusk’, today.
Recorded at Chale Abbey Studios, ‘at dusk’ captures a journey of personal growth amidst external chaos.
better joy described the EP: “‘at dusk’ serves as the sibling EP to my debut, ‘heading into blue’. Created simultaneously, these songs reveal a more exposed and darker aspect of me. It explores being vulnerable in love and the openness that stems from it, along with the consequences when that vulnerability is not in the right context.”
Despite this authenticity, the EP also possesses a glimmering, nostalgic essence: reminiscent of Olivia Rodrigo, this optimism is symbolized on the cover by a hand-drawn butterfly that fits seamlessly in a childhood bedroom.
The track ‘steamroller’ encapsulates the sentiment of “If I don’t say it now, I never will” in an upbeat pop creation, while ‘big thief’ delves into deeper, introspective themes.
The six-track EP was produced by Mike Hedges, notable for his collaborations with The Cure and Manic Street Preachers. Mixing was handled by Ceasar Edmunds (Wet Leg) and Robbie Nelson (The Rolling Stones).
better joy has also announced her upcoming headline tour across the UK and Ireland, as well as support slots for Amy Macdonald and Bastille later this year.
