Medium Build and Sydney Rose have unveiled their latest single, a rendition of Charli XXC’s renowned track ‘Sympathy is a Knife’, for the charity compilation ‘All Things Go: 10 Years’, set to be released on November 7th.
Regarding the song, Medium Build and Sydney Rose commented: “This track is a perfect representation of human insecurity. I admire Charli's honesty about her inner struggles.
“This song arrived at an ideal moment when we all wanted to feel attractive and flawless while bouncing back into life. Brat Summer, Pink Pony Club, and Espresso brought all the good vibes, but Charli also acknowledged that it’s okay to feel like an insecure mess. I adore her.”
Medium Build further expressed: “Sydney and I connected over our insecurities as quirky kids from nearby towns in Georgia. I genuinely appreciate her. I couldn’t even pretend to be Sydney Rose. However, I would love to see her backstage at my boyfriend’s show.”
The funds generated from the new single and the upcoming compilation will be donated to The Ally Coalition, established in 2013 by Jack Antonoff and Rachel Antonoff, which aims to enhance the lives of LGBTQ youth through tours, campaigns, and collaborations.
‘All Things Go: 10 Years’ is being launched in honor of the 10-year anniversary of the American music festival All Things Go, which focuses on showcasing female and non-binary artists while fostering inclusive environments within the music community.
The Toronto edition of All Things Go this weekend featured performances from Reneé Rapp, Kacey Musgraves, Remi Wolf, and Role Model. The broader compilation, set to be released next month, will also showcase contributions from Kesha, Orville Peck, Hudson Mohawke, and Tayla Parx.
