"I hope you can sing, dance, and let loose with this one..."
British-Ghanaian singer-songwriter Nectar Woode has released her latest single, ‘Stick Fight,’ following a sold-out headline performance at Village Underground the previous night.
Co-written and produced with Dom Valentino and Jay Flew during a writing retreat in Suffolk, ‘Stick Fight’ is a vibrant dose of indie-pop, featuring Nectar pushing through negative self-dialogue towards a state of joy and carefree freedom.
“Stick Fight is an enjoyable, lively track about how our inner voice can distract us from what truly matters: being kind to ourselves,” Nectar shares.
“It narrates the personal experience of overthinking and the often futile struggles we engage in (the ‘stick fight’) within our minds; I wanted to highlight how it can be quieted quite simply, and I hope you can sing, dance, and let loose with this one.”
This single comes after Nectar’s July EP ‘it’s like i never left,’ which examined themes of heritage, identity, and self-love, inspired by her transformative first trip to Ghana at the beginning of 2025 with her father.
Currently, Nectar is on tour with Joy Crookes, supporting her on 15 shows across the UK and Europe, including a performance at London’s Brixton Academy on November 18th.
