He’s delving into various aspects of his identity...
Alté pioneer BOJ has released his new album ‘Duplicity’.
Originally from London and raised between Nigeria and the UK, BOJ creates music that reflects the diasporic experience. As a key figure in the Alté movement, he has garnered attention from his contemporaries, establishing a notable place in contemporary music.
Now available, ‘Duplicity’ showcases BOJ's exploration of different facets of his persona. Ranging from hip-hop production to afrobeats and elements of R&B, his songwriting is rich with detail and precision.
This marks his sixth studio album, and ‘Duplicity’ stands out as a significant work. Intense and personal, he collaborates with an impressive lineup—including Obongjayar, Pa Salieu, Odumodublvck, Olamide, and others—to create this record.
Regarding the album, he states, “‘Duplicity’ is my journey into the two sides of myself: the version that the world perceives and the one that only those closest to me truly know. We all wear masks, not out of deceit, but for protection. One part embraces the vibrant extrovert, lively and electric; the other embodies the serene introvert, perfect. Together, they complete me.”
