Sam Fender has collaborated with BAFTA-winning actor and beloved priest Andrew Scott to create a new video for ‘People Watching’, the title track of Sam’s eagerly awaited third album, set to be released on 21st February through Polydor Records. Upon its arrival in November last year, it was evident that this Springsteen-inspired song was an anthemic and emotionally rich addition to Sam’s collection, featuring poignant lyrics that pay tribute to his late friend and mentor Annie Orwin, drawing inspiration from his visits to her palliative care home toward the end of her life. Now, Andrew Scott’s portrayal of the main character in the accompanying video amplifies the track’s themes of love, loss, and cherishing every moment, illustrating his character's connections with strangers, efforts to combat loneliness, and attempts to escape grief. “Sam’s incredible song has truly become a companion to me,” Andrew expressed regarding his involvement with the project. “The experience was cathartic, and I will always be thankful to Sam for his remarkable talent, as well as to the other artists involved in this film, and of course, to my mum, who I will keep in my heart until the end of my days.” You can view the moving video for ‘People Watching’ below (we suggest having tissues ready…). Additionally, Sam will be performing ‘People Watching’ across Europe this Spring (alongside the fantastic CMAT) before heading to the US for a series of shows, followed by a jam-packed schedule of stadium and festival appearances throughout the Summer. £1 from each ticket sold for Sam’s stadium performances (in London and his hometown of Newcastle) will be donated to organizations supporting the arts in the North East.
