Soul-pop artist with a captivating voice...
“It’s a bit of a sad banger. Crying at the club: my favorite thing to do!” Biig Piig remarks about ‘Ponytail’, a succinct description that perfectly captures the essence of her new single.
Exploring heart-wrenching human themes and experiences through stunning club beats, listeners find themselves torn between busting out their best moves learned from BRAT summer or dialing their best friend to vent. The title ‘11:11’ derives from the angel number 1111, representing enlightenment and awakening—a complex yet beautiful journey. She describes the album as finding “peace with change as a constant, rather than trying to escape it,” promising a unique debut that brings something noteworthy.
Intent on creating an album that “feels good in a room”, Biig Piig intertwines nostalgia and longing with aspirations and potential. Recorded in Paris and London, the blend of influences infuses the debut with bilingual lyrics and the effortless charm of Parisian style alongside the gritty energy of London’s nightlife.
‘Decimal’ stands out as a track we keep returning to, constructed around a straightforward idea executed flawlessly. Producer Andrew Wells (Chappell Roan, Halsey, Bebe Rexha) defined the ideal tempo by slowing down the pace of Biig Piig’s presence in the studio. It’s no wonder that a piece built so closely around movement has such a strong effect, compelling you to venture out and seek the next big experience.
“I’d love for listeners to feel nostalgic for their past experiences. To reflect on them, celebrate them, and release them through the music,” Biig Piig explains. “It’s about letting go of previous burdens and embracing yourself during tough times – while also enjoying the moment, because that’s what we’re all here for.”
If this garners the recognition it merits, a revival this summer is assured.
