Echos embarks on a daring new chapter in alternative rock with “QUIET, IN YOUR SERVICE,” a hauntingly cathartic and confessional journey of healing and empowerment—serving as the powerful thesis for her recently released fourth studio album.
In recent years, Echos’ Alexandra Norton has experienced significant transformation. The EDM artist has gradually removed the ‘electronic’ and ‘dance’ aspects from her music (notably seen in the latter part of 2022’s AFFIRMATIONS), but it’s with her latest album that she truly rises, like a phoenix from the ashes, showcasing a striking new image, sound, and demeanor. The dark, dramatic, and dynamic sound of QUIET, IN YOUR SERVICE repositions Echos as an intensely authentic alternative artist akin to PVRIS, Yonaka, and Allie X.
This shift represents both artistic growth and a personal evolution; to create these songs, she had to cease concealing her true self and begin asserting her identity—embracing her reality and reclaiming her voice. The resulting music is unapologetically fierce and profoundly raw, particularly evident in the album's enchanting, soul-stirring title track: “QUIET, IN YOUR SERVICE” embodies Echos’ intimate reckoning and reclamation—a heartfelt anthem of upheaval, healing, and emotional liberation.
Norton’s transformation appears complete, at least for now, as she releases the person she once was and embraces an exhilarating new chapter filled with empowerment, passion, and opportunity.
“QUIET, IN YOUR SERVICE” – ECHOS
Break myself open
What will it take
To keep me here
Cause I get tired
Of hoping
Some days I wish that I could disappear
(It’s never enough, it’s crushing me)
I was changing myself
To be what you want me to be
I swallowed your sin
Just to see what you want me to see
Oh I’ve been quiet, in your service
The pain you gave me wasn’t worth it.
Atwood Magazine is excited to premiere the Slater Goodson-directed music video for “QUIET, IN YOUR SERVICE”—a hard-hitting statement marked by its unrelenting vulnerability and emotional depth. The third track from Echos’ fourth album sets the stage for 2025 as a new beginning—one where her previously quiet strength is more prominent than ever.
Breathe
But I’ve been choking
And can’t you see through
the bloodbaths you bring?
I stay quiet
You don’t notice
Under all of the offerings.
“‘Quiet, in Your Service’ is a song about no longer shrinking myself for others,” the artist explains to Atwood Magazine. “It can relate to any toxic relationship. I spent much of my twenties trying to conform to what those around me expected. Now, at thirty-one, this song represents my final step in letting go of any remaining tendencies to please others without being true to myself, allowing me to fiercely embrace my strength.”
“This album reflects my journey of reclaiming my voice in ways I hadn’t experienced before. I’ve learned to set healthier boundaries, to love and believe in myself wholeheartedly for the first time. I hope these songs encourage anyone working through similar struggles to realize that choosing ourselves isn’t selfish—by prioritizing our healing and embracing self-love and acceptance, we align more deeply with our true paths.”
Echos reaches an emotional peak as she hits the chorus, laying bare her heart and soul for all to witness:
I was changing myself
To be what you want me to be
I swallowed your sin
Just to see what you want me to see
Oh I’ve been quiet, in your service
The pain you gave me wasn’t worth it.
Released on January 17th through Sumerian Records' Outlast Records, QUIET, IN YOUR SERVICE has been praised for its poignant narratives, rich instrumentation, and deep sense of catharsis that mirrors Norton’s healing journey.
“It has profoundly impacted me as an artist,” she shares, “and the stories contained within have facilitated healing from pain I once thought insurmountable. It has helped me reclaim parts of myself I believed to be lost.”
Set against a strikingly dark backdrop, the “QUIET, IN YOUR SERVICE” music video provides an intimate, visceral glimpse into Norton’s humanity as she and her bandmates deliver the song with fervor and passion. Watch the breathtaking, spine-tingling video exclusively on Atwood Magazine, and don't forget to listen to the full album wherever you enjoy music.
