Iconic industrial hip-hop group appears to have disbanded...
American band Death Grips seems to have come to an end.
The band's future has been unclear for some time, as Death Grips appeared to be on hiatus since the release of 'Gmail and the Restraining Orders' in 2019. Recently, leaked communications suggest that Death Grips may no longer exist.
In one leaked message, member Andy Morin appears to acknowledge that lyricist MC Ride "doesn’t want to continue." However, he also noted that "none of us can ever foresee what will happen with the group."
See the message below.
Death Grips debuted with their mixtape 'Ex-Military' in 2011, which was an extraordinary success; they then endured an unfortunate period with a major label before returning to independence.
Celebrated with a CLASH cover in 2012, their albums like 'No Love Deep Web' continue to hold significant influence.
Fans have shared their tributes online:

Thank you Stefan Burnett, Andy Morin, and Zach Hill. Death Grips was like nothing I’ve ever experienced as a listener and was a huge support during a dark time in my life. #DeathGrips pic.twitter.com/t68bvHsJHT— kerosenebars (@kerosenebars) February 9, 2025
CLASH interviewed Death Grips and Atari Teenage Riot frontman Alec Empire backstage at Coachella in 2012 – check out that inspiring conversation in our archive.
