DJ Python Hints at Upcoming EP with XL Recordings

Influential producer DJ Python is set to make his debut on XL Recordings with his new EP titled ‘i was put on this earth’.

This upcoming EP is part of the label’s renowned house bag series and is scheduled for release on March 28th. It will be available both digitally and as a 12-inch vinyl. Comprising five tracks, the EP has been developed over the past year and includes collaborations with South London rapper Jawnino, rule-defying Isabella Lovestory from Honduras, the captivating Organ Tapes, and New York City artist Physical Therapy.

The title ‘i was put on this earth’ serves as a clear statement of purpose, reflecting DJ Python – also known as Brian Piñeyro’s – creative process, which was shaped during his travels between NYC and London.

The new single ‘Besos Robados’ is currently available, featuring vibrant electronics enhanced by a guest appearance from long-time CLASH favorite Isabella Lovestory.

      To Whom It May Concern…

      Person 1:

Is hard work really fulfilling? Sometimes I think I’d rather do nothing at all. But is laziness considered 'bad'? I find doing nothing to be quite poetic. As the saying goes, “sleep cures sleepiness.”

      Person 2:

What does hard work ultimately achieve? Much of the effort people exert leads to creating things that are ultimately worthless. In terms of consumption... I believe hard work can yield beauty, beautiful things that may be deemed 'useless,' and that’s a worthy endeavor.

Person 1: I partially agree, but do we still consume beauty? Or can it simply influence us, open our minds, and change our perspectives?

      Person 2: I suppose that's entirely subjective.

Person 1: I wish we could just relax, do nothing, and discuss ideas without the need for conclusions or the pressure of productivity.

Person 2: Isn’t that exactly what we’re doing right now?

Person 1: You have a point. Perhaps beauty can exist independently of hard work.

Person 2: Yes – it might just arise from within, when the circumstances are right, whatever 'pure' may signify.

Person 1: I desperately want to be GOOD.

Person 2: We all have a mix of good and bad within us. No one is solely defined by their best or worst moments. In essence, everyone is just OK.

Person 1: Hmm, I understand. I’ve worked hard to reach ‘OK.’ I can do nothing yet still create beautiful things. Pursuing beauty is worthwhile.

Even if you are just OK, I see so much beauty in you.

Person 2: I think you’re OK as well and find you very beautiful.

Person 1: When I first watched Jodie Foster in Silence of the Lambs, I was moved to tears. I cried because she was so genuine in her craft, doing what she loved. It was a true testament to human artistic achievement.

Person 2: Absolutely, and everyone acknowledged it – she received recognition for something truly deserving, and that acknowledgment will endure.

It’s the heart of winter, and I passed a tree with all its leaves still on. They were completely black, and it was 25 degrees. I’m not sure if that signifies work or resilience, but it embodies a natural and effortless beauty. Some might find it unappealing since it’s not green any longer.

Yet, to me, that tree is beautiful. I’ve walked by it every day, but only yesterday did I truly recognize its beauty.
