On May 9th, Little Simz will launch her new album, ‘Lotus’, through AWAL Recordings.
‘Lotus’, the sixth collection from the influential UK rapper, reflects Simz’s artistic journey. This release follows her award-winning album ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’, which earned a Mercury Prize and a BRIT Award in 2021, as well as the transitional project ‘NO THANK YOU’ and the electronic venture ‘Drop 7’.
Accompanying the album announcement is the new single ‘Flood’, which features long-time collaborator Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly. This intense punk-rap track, produced by Miles Clinton James, showcases Simz delivering a powerful and transformative message. Combining a fierce edge with a smooth delivery, Simz narrates her journey through a richly crafted anthem of survival.
The Southbank Centre has recently appointed Little Simz as the curator for the 30th edition of its contemporary music festival, Meltdown. Following in the footsteps of renowned past curators, Simz will put together an innovative lineup for the festival that will take place from June 12th to 22nd.
The tracklist for ‘Lotus’ will be revealed at a later date. In the meantime, check out the striking visual for ‘Flood’ directed by esteemed filmmaker Salomon Ligthelm.
