Five years after her debut single, 'Roxwell'—named after the street where she grew up—sees Matilda Mann reflecting on her most significant life experiences. The lullaby-esque track ‘Only So Far Away’ is penned from the viewpoint of a young Matilda, expressing her joy for her father's return from lengthy work trips. In contrast, the folk-inspired ‘Tell Me That I’m Wrong’ and the poignant ‘Common Sense’ depict the start and conclusion of a romantic relationship, respectively. While maintaining the gentle warmth that has characterized her music to date, Matilda also diversifies her sound with the catchy pop of ‘Meet Cute’ and the energetic ‘Say It Back,’ featuring powerful guitars and a driving beat. Overall, ‘Roxwell’ serves as a reflective time capsule, rich in sentimental value.
