Finn Wolfhard will release his debut solo album titled ‘Happy Birthday’ this summer.
Known for his acting talent, Finn Wolfhard has also quietly pursued music. As part of Calpurnia, his band delivered lively, pop-influenced indie music that thrilled fans; after their split in 2020, he joined The Aubreys.
Now, Finn Wolfhard is set to explore his solo career. The inspiration for the album stems from his goal to write 50 songs throughout 2022, essentially one song each week.
He shares…
“I ended up producing a lot of poor material, but a few tracks that I was truly proud of were given to The Aubreys. I began to notice recurring themes in many of the other songs related to my identity, anxieties, nostalgia, childhood, and loneliness. All of this contributed to a larger picture. I knew I wanted to create an album, but I was uncertain about which songs to use.”
As he narrowed down the options, the creation of the solo album coincided with his busy acting schedule. Finn discovered that the songs “provided me with a sense of control and a bit of tranquility. Music has always been something I can manage. While I am very thankful for acting, which for a long time brought me that peace, it has transformed into a career now that I’m an adult. I still find joy in it, but when I’m alone, playing guitar and writing a song gives me a different type of fulfillment.”
