Gecko Enchants Listeners With New Album ‘The Big Picture’

A fascinating mix of reality and imagination...

      On March 7, 2025,

Gecko, the South London alt-pop artist, has released his new album ‘The Big Picture’ in its entirety.

Now available, the album follows a series of singles that blended whimsical humor with introspective honesty. Collectively, ‘The Big Picture’ celebrates the fusion of truth and storytelling, as Gecko alternates between an autobiographical perspective and imaginative narratives.

The outcome is distinctively original. Collaborating with Mercury-nominated producer Shuta Shinoda, this marks his most expansive project to date, featuring comforting string arrangements and renowned musician Phil Veacock (of Jools Holland fame) on saxophone and clarinet.

Reflecting on the recording process, Gecko shares...

If something sounded interesting, it was included, allowing me to embrace a scrapbook approach. I incorporated samples of various sounds, such as my baby niece’s gurgles, my Grandad’s voice, my cat’s purring, gaffer tape, cardboard tubes, and even a wooden frog.

‘The Big Picture’ is playful yet deeply emotional, capturing the essence of the South London artist’s life. He remarks:

These songs represent my quest for comfort and peace amidst the vastness and improbability that has shaped the life we now cherish. Despite the chaos of this world, that life we hold is extraordinarily valuable, and it’s all too easy to overlook that truth.

      Listen now.

Gecko is set to begin a UK tour, starting with a sold-out performance at London’s Green Note on March 12th.
