Chinese artist Xinwenyue Shi has released his new album ‘Gray, Gray Sun’ in its entirety.
The songwriter draws from a variety of influences, with his genre-blending creativity reminiscent of Tyler, the Creator or Childish Gambino. His studio work has a hip-hop vibe, combining vibrant electronic sounds with storytelling rooted in the enduring traditions of folk music.
Xinwenyue Shi describes his music as a ‘silky smooth hip-hop style’, with his debut coming out in 2021.
The new album ‘Gray, Gray Sun’ is now available, furthering the narrative crafted by the Chinese artist. Overall, the record seeks to explore the effects of the social media era, striving to identify where emotional truths can be uncovered.
With ‘Chase The Sun’ closing the album, it serves as a journey of resistance and a representation of a renewed perspective.

“We’ve all experienced it – in a world overwhelmed by information, social media often makes us feel insignificant, as though we’re disappearing into an endless void. It fosters a sense of confusion, ensnared in a grey area where clarity dissipates and nothing seems assured. It was from this feeling that the concept of ‘Gray, Gray Sun’ originated.”
