UK songwriter Billie Marten is set to release her new album, ‘Dog Eared,’ on July 18th.
With a unique and captivating voice in the UK music scene, Billie Marten’s latest album sees her exploring new territory. In the summer of 2024, the artist traveled to New York to collaborate with producer Phil Weinrobe (known for his work with Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek, and Laura Veirs) at his Sugar Mountain studio, along with a remarkable lineup of musicians.
Producer Phil Weinrobe enthusiastically shares his thoughts about the album:
‘Dog Eared’ is truly a miracle. This record embodies what music is meant to be — a collaborative dialogue among open-minded musicians, all moving in the same direction. This direction is unmistakable — it focuses on the essence of Billie’s extraordinary songs.
Indeed, the album was recorded live. Billie provided the lead vocals in real-time. We gathered in a circle — no headphones, no barriers, no playback, nothing separating one person from another, and nothing separating the performers from their craft.
However, that’s not what makes this album significant. It stands out because Billie came into the studio each morning, opened her mouth, and delivered these remarkable melodies and beautiful lyrics without any fears, worries, or desires to control her art. She personified the art itself. Everyone around her supported her, and in turn, she elevated the music to heights that we are all fortunate enough to experience repeatedly.

Later this year, Billie Marten will embark on a full UK tour and has released the beautiful single ‘Feeling.’ This song, rooted in some of her earliest memories, marks an intimate return to her folk roots.
