A fragrant haze, an enchanting siren. Cleo Sol, one of the most cherished performers of her time, remains deliberately elusive. She reveals everything through her music, then retreats into a fulfilling life of marriage, motherhood, and fidelity. Witnessing a live performance by Cleo Sol is akin to capturing lightning in a bottle, and those who gathered at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on April 4, 2025, experienced just that.
The London-based artist delivered a 110-minute set that took fans through songs like ‘Rose In The Dark,’ ‘Young Love,’ and ‘Sunshine,’ concluding with the crowd-favorite ‘Why Don’t You’ as an encore. Accompanied by a choir whose presence was so striking, it felt almost sacrilegious to choose where to direct your attention.
Sol’s neo-soul melodies enveloped the audience like honey drizzled on berries, producing an intoxicating sound that felt even richer than her recordings. Much like Sade’s 1993 Love Deluxe Tour, Sol captivates with her voice and presence alone, requiring no gimmicks to inspire awe; she is her finest instrument.
Responding to each “I love you,” making sure no one felt neglected, and eventually mingling with the crowd, Sol exuded warmth and familiarity. She felt like a lifelong friend, nourishing those who felt empty.
With much of Sol’s music delving into themes of divinity, the entire performance felt like a baptism. Time seemed to pause as the audience connected with something greater than themselves, a frequency driven by love and community. The Hollywood Bowl was vibrantly alive, providing a temporary escape from the struggles of contemporary life. Cleo Sol’s artistry is truly healing, and experiencing it live delivered the necessary boost of positivity to stay anchored in hope.
