HAAi and KAM-BU team up for a new single titled ‘Shapeshift’.
The Australia-born, London-based producer has previously collaborated with the rapper, famously joining forces with Jon Hopkins on ‘Always Ascending’, which marked the start of her praised DJ-Kicks mix.
The new single ‘Shapeshift’ continues this collaboration – featuring lush electronics with a relaxed vibe, the production foundation supports KAM-BU's half-spoken vocal delivery.
Escaping easy categorization, ‘Shapeshift’ showcases a unique flair. HAAi shares...
"I aimed for the track to begin with a relaxed spoken word segment that evolves into something more purposeful and rhythmic as the tension increases. KAM-BU truly rose to the occasion."
The complete video for ‘Shapeshift’ has been released, encapsulating the song’s core theme of duality. KAM-BU comments:
“‘Shapeshift’ mirrors both personal and societal battles of feeling constrained while yearning for freedom. The lyrics convey the conflict between living a 'dream' and feeling trapped by the realities of life, particularly the societal and authoritative pressures (‘No love for cages’). I wanted to evoke a sense of restlessness, a desire to escape limitations, whether they are external or internal.”
