Having recently started to release music under his own name for the first time, rather than with his bands Calpurnia and The Aubreys, Finn Wolfhard has unveiled a new song titled ‘Trailers after dark’. This track is the second to be released from his forthcoming solo album ‘Happy Birthday’, which is set to arrive on 6th June through AWAL, following the March single ‘Choose the latter’. The song is a lo-fi slacker piece that, much like the entire album, sees Finn reflecting on themes of nostalgia and the journey of self-discovery in his early twenties.
In discussing ‘Happy Birthday’, Finn remarked: “If I were to step away and listen to it in 10 years, I believe it would represent the start of a distinctive style and voice. Being a young person in any industry can be fascinating, as even though I’ve been acting for a long time, I’m still just 22, and things begin to take form at various points in life.
“I hope that when I revisit this record, I’ll take pride in the melodies and songwriting. I want to embrace the person I was then. It was fine to feel that way and create a record about it, after which I could move on to new experiences.” You can listen to ‘Trailers after dark’ here, and watch its official visualiser when it releases at 3pm BST below. The tracklist for ‘Happy Birthday’ includes: 1. Happy Birthday 2. Choose the latter 3. Eat 4. Objection! 5. Everytown there’s a darling 6. Trailers after dark 7. Crown 8. You 9. Wait.
