Singer-songwriter Yasmin Hass is steadily establishing herself as a versatile artist, seamlessly blending pop music with indie and alternative sounds. Her quest for a unique sound in the music scene, combined with her delicate but strong vocals and poetic lyrics, continues to distinguish her.

Yasmin acknowledges that she initially struggled to determine the type of music she wanted to make. With early management leading her astray and a love for many different genres complicating matters, she points out that her creative breakthrough arrived as a silver lining during the Covid pandemic. Like many artists, Yasmin took a step back from planning her career's next phases and chose instead to write on her own terms and uncover her true sound. As a natural lyricist, she hopes her music will be perceived as ‘intimate and expressive,’ reflecting the scenarios and emotions that have influenced her life.

Having recently experienced Yasmin's performance at 21Soho, it is clear that intimacy is a key element of her live shows, with her younger sister providing backing vocals. “My sister and I constantly share ideas! We've been collaborating more often lately, and whenever I record a demo, she's and my Mum are the first to receive it for feedback.”

Although Yasmin was born in Australia, she was raised in London, and her close ties to her family continually inspire her music. At the beginning of this year, she decided to enroll in a musical theatre course taught by her mother. Despite the genre not mirroring her own, Yasmin viewed it as an opportunity to enhance her vocal skills, expressing that the most fulfilling aspect for her is “Telling a story through song,” as this is what truly excites her.

‘Your Favourite Birthday’ is Yasmin’s upcoming single created with Jules Konieczny, set for release on Friday. She believes that the caliber of creative collaborators she works with has contributed to her self-awareness in her writing process. Yasmin is keen on maintaining a small network of collaborators. She shares, “I wrote ‘Your Favourite Birthday’ during the early stages of a relationship with someone I really liked. The emotions that come with the beginning of a romance can be intense, and what I convey in the song reflects what I wanted to express to him at that time. However, being so candid early on can be intimidating, so writing a song about it was the ideal outlet. It’s a tribute to falling in love and represents the first time I truly fell for someone.”

Now an ambassador for Chanel, Yasmin finds herself at an exciting stage in her career, radiating enthusiasm. She is set to support Jonny Swim in May and All Saints in July, with ‘Your Favourite Birthday’ quickly followed by her highly anticipated second EP, ‘Sick Of Nice,’ this summer.
