Melbourne’s Sex Mask Makes a Comeback with ‘Circe’

Catch them in the UK next month...

The highly anticipated Melbourne band Sex Mask has released a new single titled ‘Circe.’

Their intense, biting interpretation of post-punk and alt-rock merges surreal lyrics with gritty sound, creating a product that is vibrant and occasionally hard to categorize.

Alongside re-releasing the fan favorite ‘How To Be Cool At Parties,’ Sex Mask has unveiled fresh material.

‘Circe’ draws comparisons to the PIXIES and The Breeders with its laid-back vibe, as Sex Mask transmits energy from a higher realm.

Clocking in just over three minutes, ‘Circe’ is packed with meaning – alluding to Greek mythology, it’s an incredibly cool piece of guitar chaos.

      Vocalist Wry Gray shares...

Inspired by Homer’s classic ‘Odyssey,’ the reference to “Circe” (the evil sorceress who transforms men into animals) reflects my own feelings at the conclusion of a troubled relationship. It highlights how we demonize and mythologize others to find some sense of peace or fulfillment, likening myself to a “man-made beast,” vividly embarrassed.

      Tune in now.

See Sex Mask in the UK next month – the band will headline a show in London at The Lower Third on May 14th, along with appearances at The Great Escape Festival on May 15th and 16th.
