Billie Marten has released the third single from her upcoming album, 'Dog Eared', which is set to come out on July 18 through Fiction Records. The new song, 'Leap Year', follows her previous singles 'Crown' and 'Feeling', showcasing the Yorkshire-born artist's talent. The track was inspired by an experience Marten had while she was in bed on Leap Day in 2024, which is reflected in its title. In her own words, it tells the story of two individuals who can reunite only once every leap year, sharing just one day every four years. “It’s a song about fleeting love and the pain that can bring,” she explains. Marten revealed that the song originated from an idea she had on her phone: “I found this app that simulates an Optigan and allows you to play pre-stored sample sounds chord by chord,” she remembers. “I combined some buttons, and it became this song.” The album's release will be accompanied by an extensive tour schedule, which includes a support tour across the US with Tennis, a performance at the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury Festival, and her largest headlining show yet at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town in November.
