Nell Mescal has unveiled an intimate live demo of her new song ‘Thin’, recorded in Dublin. The artist had been sharing snippets of the song during her performances and on social media before dropping the poignant demo, which has thrilled her eager fans. ‘Thin’, released under her new label Atlantic Records, marks Mescal’s first new music since her debut EP ‘Can I Miss It For A Minute?’. She describes the track as a melancholic exploration of her self-esteem: “Thin is about body image and linking how you appear to your worth in terms of love,” she said. “It was a challenging song to write and to face, stemming from my darkest and most inaccurate thoughts about myself.” “The main message of the song and what I hope listeners take away is that these thoughts are not true, but the feelings accompanying them are still genuine, and that you are enough just as you are,” she added. Mescal, who is the sister of renowned actor Paul Mescal, has a packed summer of performances planned, including multiple slots at festivals like Reading and Leeds, and a supporting role for Robbie Williams at Newcastle’s Come Together Festival on June 4th.
