Emerging junglist Nia Archives has unveiled her own label, Up Ya Archives Records.
The producer has received significant recognition with her debut album, garnering nominations for both the Mercury and BRIT Awards. In a recent conversation with CLASH on the BRIT Awards red carpet, Nia shared that she is currently crafting new music as she sets out to create a successor to her groundbreaking debut.
The establishment of Up Ya Archives Records is a part of her creative journey. It serves as a platform for Nia to delve into various facets of her artistry while also uplifting other talents. The label kicks off with a soca-infused dance track.
Released now, ‘Get Loose’ showcases Nia collaborating with Cheetah, with their distinct production styles blending seamlessly. Their connection goes back a long time—Nia first discovered his music on Bandcamp and featured his track ‘Spin Sugar’ in her debut BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.
‘Get Loose’ celebrates wild nights out and the exhilaration of letting loose on the dance floor. Bold and energetic, it marks the beginning of Up Ya Archives Records’ impressive lineup.
Cheetah comments on the track:
The creation of the track felt very organic. It’s fundamentally a tribute to soundsystem and party culture. It captures that exhilarating feeling of being completely immersed in the music, with your head in the rig and the bass shaking your body. It’s quite straightforward yet filled with energy; the lyrics are literally a directive. We drew significant inspiration from soca, allowing the vibrant vocals to dominate the track.
Nia adds:
‘Get Loose’ is all about having a good time with friends. It reflects our carefree spirit and disregard for what others are doing; we just want to enjoy ourselves!
Tune in now.
