Exstra has released his newest single, ‘Round & Round’.
Commanding the dancefloor, the track builds in intensity with a driving four-to-the-floor beat. Dropped through Enormous Chills, the New York DJ producer incorporates the versatile sounds of Frýnn to propel the melody; a bright, haunting performance that achieves brilliance.
Initially drawn to pop-influenced electronics, Steven Landis’ musical journey began in the school choir. With a more profound appreciation for music, a live show from Avicii ignited a distinctive ambition in Exstra, leading him to perform DJ sets at local clubs and university events throughout Washington.
Since that time, Exstra has been broadening his vision for dance music, refining his production skills with a collaborative edge. His work is influenced by artists such as Nora En Pure, Cassian, Camelphat, and Joris Voorn.
Commenting on his latest release, a smoky, cinematic piece that showcases two powerful forces merging, Exstra shares: “‘Round & Round’ began as a remix of a friend’s song but evolved into something entirely original. I was inspired by the darker aspects of melodic club music and aimed to create a melody that started as a gentle tease—played softly on a hang drum—before escalating into a more intense segment with a bold synth lead. Once I finished the instrumental, I felt a warm, beautiful vocal would enhance it perfectly. Frýnn’s gorgeous voice effortlessly tied everything together!”
