John Lydon Attacks Kneecap

He referred to them as "my enemy..."

John Lydon has criticized the Belfast group Kneecap.

The Northern Irish trio has recently been the center of attention, as their performances at Coachella and their support for the Palestinian cause have sparked a backlash from the right. Videos of Kneecap allegedly calling for the death of Tory MPs resurfaced, prompting several politicians to demand the band be excluded from festival line-ups.

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, John Lydon expressed his displeasure with Kneecap’s remarks, labeling the band “my enemy.”

The punk icon stated: “If you’re advocating the death of another human being, then you have no legitimate cause. From this point forward, you are my enemy for the rest of your mundane existence.”

The frontman continued: “You should refrain from speaking like that; you shouldn’t be antagonizing your fellow human beings. Aside from that, perhaps they could use a good kneecapping!”

John Lydon has also recently redesigned the PiL logo and has been engaged in a war of words with his former Sex Pistols bandmates, who are currently touring with Frank Carter filling in for him.

While on the show, he accused Kneecap of imitating the punk legends’ tendency for tabloid controversy. “I think they’re trying to follow what they perceive as the Sex Pistols path,” he remarked. “It’s convenient, isn’t it, when you have the Financial Times backing you up?”

Kneecap is set to headline London’s Wide Awake festival later this month.
