Kieran Hebden and William Tyler Announce Debut Album '41 Longfield Street Late '80s'

      Kieran Hebden and William Tyler are set to release their debut album, ’41 Longfield Street Late ’80s’, on September 14th.

      The pair have been acquainted for a while and released what fans believed would be a standalone 12-inch over a year ago. It turns out the musicians share many commonalities—Hebden, known as Four Tet, has often been associated with the ‘folktronica’ label, while Tyler, the Primitive Guitarist, has recently embraced his electronic side.

      Set for release on September 14th, ’41 Longfield Street Late ’80s’ showcases Kieran Hebden and William Tyler collaborating closely.

      In a statement, Kieran Hebden notes...

      We talked about influences for the album, including Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Fennesz, and AM oldies radio stations. However, our main inspiration emerged when we found a profound connection to ‘80s American country and folk music, with artists like Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith, and Joe Ely.

      William Tyler adds...

      I believe we both seek to recontextualize much of the music we grew up with, no matter the genre, and that’s reflected in this album. It evokes a strong sense of nostalgia but remains very future-oriented. At this point, I’m not even sure what genre I fit into, but I trust Kieran and truly appreciate what we have created together. He has become a close friend, and I’m excited to see where we go from here.

      The new track ‘If I Had A Boat’ offers an 11-minute sonic exploration—building on Lyle Lovett's original, it transitions through abstract noise, gentle fingerpicking guitar, and more, developing a distinctive character.
