“It really feels like me—knowing myself, this album is truly, truly me…”
Zara Larsson is set to release her new album ‘Midnight Sun’ on September 26th.
The Swedish pop sensation is entering her independent phase, having parted ways with the major label system to chart her own path. Zara Larsson is thriving, as showcased by her recent hit single ‘Pretty Ugly’ released just weeks ago.
The upcoming album ‘Midnight Sun’ will be available on September 26th and consists of a concise 10 tracks that firmly establish Zara's creative control.
The title track is scheduled for release on June 13th, with recording sessions that took place over the past year alongside her frequent collaborator MNEK, and producers Margo XS and Zhone, as well as songwriter Helena Gao.
“While considering this album, I asked myself, ‘What do I want to express? What do I want this to represent?’ I take great pride in my Swedish pop roots, so I wanted to create songs that evoke a Swedish summer where the sun never sets,” Zara shared in a note to her fans. “I aimed for the entire album to embody the feeling of a summer night that never ends. It doesn’t matter if it’s December: that summer night will always be there for you. It’s waiting for you, it will return, and you will come back to it.”
She continues: “It just feels like me—understanding myself, this album is just genuinely, genuinely me. And no one can represent me the way I do.”
