Last night (June 7th), Bruce Springsteen was accompanied on stage by Paul McCartney during his performance at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium.
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band are wrapping up a limited series of shows in the UK, with two performances scheduled in Liverpool. Clash attended the opening night at Anfield, where reviewer Lauren Hague noted:
After an exhilarating three-hour performance, with the legendary E Street Band proving once again they do it better than anyone else, Bruce Springsteen raises the bar for what every successful rock artist should aspire to. If you’re not already a big fan before attending, I can assure you, you will leave a Springsteen concert fully converted.
As it turns out, Anfield Part Two made a bit of history as the E Street Band welcomed a new member: Sir Paul McCartney.
The Beatles legend joined Bruce Springsteen for a lively rendition of 'Can’t Buy Me Love', and stayed on stage to perform ‘Kansas City’ – a rock 'n' roll classic cherished by the E Street Band, which The Beatles also played during their early days at the Cavern and in Hamburg.
I didn’t think Wednesday night could be surpassed, but wow. It was an unforgettable evening, honestly. Witnessing Paul McCartney alongside Springsteen in Liverpool performing a Beatles song has truly made life complete. pic.twitter.com/vIpKxWu3uD
