An exhibition displaying Bob Dylan’s artwork has opened in London.
The songwriter is currently engaged in several performances across North America, continually surprising fans with his enigmatic set lists and innovative interpretations of well-known songs. This same drive is reflected in his visual art, as he consistently produces sketches, paintings, and sculptures.
Halcyon Gallery in London is hosting a comprehensive exhibition, following similar displays in 2008 and 2016.
Entitled Point Break, the new exhibit showcases 97 paintings made between 2021 and 2022.
It’s important to note that Bob Dylan released new studio albums in 2020 (‘Rough And Rowdy Ways’) and 2023 (‘Shadow Kingdom’), not to mention his ongoing Bootleg Series of outtakes. This, alongside his regular live performances — and the fact that he is now 84 years old — makes this remarkable surge of artistic output particularly intriguing.
Originally sketches, Bob revisited these drawings to create painted versions— the gallery notes the influence of Picasso’s Blue Period.
Among the titles are Zurich (Strange Weather), Piano Player, and Beans for Breakfast, with the Halcyon Gallery stating: “They are a masterful expression of a dynamic imagination.”
Here's one below.
Point Blank is on display at Halcyon Gallery until July 6th.
