Oasis kicked off their reunion tour last night (July 4th) at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
Tickets for the concert sold out almost immediately, with some fans paying thousands of pounds on the resale market to attend. Leading up to the Cardiff show, there was much speculation about the band's song selection.
After performances by Cast and Richard Ashcroft, Oasis took the stage to the opening notes of ‘F*ckin In The Bushes – a classic opener from their post-Millennial period.
The first song of the reunion tour was ‘Hello’, and the overall setlist heavily featured tracks from their first two albums, along with the B-sides compilation ‘The Masterplan’.
The programming reflected their dynamic ascent and the peak of Britpop, including a few surprises – like ‘Fade Away’ – while also catering to fan favorites.
Those who appreciate their post-Millennial material might feel a bit let down, as there was no inclusion of ‘Lyla’, ‘The Hindu Times’, or ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’.
However, there were no complaints from the audience – Oasis delivered a lengthy performance, culminating in an extensive encore that ended with the beloved ‘Champagne Supernova’.
