The Explanation Behind Robert Plant's Dismissal of Oasis During Led Zeppelin's Reunion

"I had to leave. It felt too overwhelming..."

It’s reunion season – here’s why Robert Plant declined to celebrate with Oasis after Led Zeppelin’s memorable comeback performance in 2007.

The legendary rock band had been inactive for years, with their last official performance being a lackluster appearance at Live Aid. Since then, Page & Plant had been touring globally, revisiting elements of their own songs while carefully avoiding the band's name.

Then in 2007, a tribute concert for Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertugun was organized at London’s O2 Arena, which led to the idea of a Led Zeppelin reunion.

After much hesitation, Robert Plant agreed, and the band delivered an unforgettable Greatest Hits set. Following the show, Oasis – Noel and Liam Gallagher – showed up at his dressing room, but the frontman turned them away.

In an interview with Mojo magazine, he recalled: “Twenty minutes after we finished, the Gallagher brothers were leaning against my dressing room door. One of them remarked: ‘You’re the real f***ing thing, you are.’”

“I responded: ‘I’ve been aware of that all along, but I think you need to head a little further down the corridor, next door on the left.’ And with that, I quickly exited.”

“I found myself at the Marathon pub in Camden, downed four bottles of Keo lager and half a bottle of vodka, then called it a night. I needed to escape it all. I had done what I came to do. It was too heavy. Beautiful, but discussing your own mortality? It was surreal.”

Of course, it’s unlikely that Oasis took offense – Noel Gallagher and Robert Plant actually appear (independently) on Paul Weller’s new album ‘Find El Dorado’.
