Self Esteem to Curate the London Literature Festival

      08 · 07 · 2025

Self Esteem will curate a day at this year’s London Literature Festival.

The festival is returning to the Southbank Centre with an extensive schedule of events that combine prominent figures with rising writers.

Self Esteem, also known as Rebecca Lucy Taylor, will oversee a full day of activities on November 1st, featuring Dolly Alderton for the launch of her debut book, A Complicated Woman.

Attendees can look forward to an evening of music and poetry, with performances from Tom Rasmussen, Marged, Travis Alabanza, Seraphina Simone, Pam Ayres, and others to be confirmed. Additionally, free events will be hosted throughout the Southbank Centre’s venue.

This is part of a busy lineup that also features Scottish author Jackie Kay, the talented Nikita Gill, Michael Rosen, Kelly Frost, Bora Chung, and Adam Buxton.

Rebecca Lucy Taylor, known as Self Esteem and the curator for the London Literature Festival, states: “I’m thrilled to be curating at this year's London Literature Festival. I've never really seen strict boundaries between songwriting, art, poetry, and prose. I've always desired to break free from genres and labels, not just in my own creations but also in the art I appreciate. I want it all because I'm passionate, and I'm no longer going to apologize for that. I can't wait to explore this through my participation in the London Literature Festival, alongside a range of multidisciplinary artists I respect and take inspiration from.”

Mark Ball, Artistic Director of the Southbank Centre, remarks: “The Southbank Centre serves as a gathering place for creators to come together, collaborate, and produce their finest work. We’re thrilled that Rebecca Lucy Taylor, a.k.a. Self Esteem, is contributing her remarkable vision to the curation of events at this year's London Literature Festival. As a key highlight of the cultural calendar in the capital, the London Literature Festival offers something for everyone, providing unmatched cultural experiences to audiences with a lineup that includes leading figures in international literature—such as Chris Kraus and Malala Yousafzai—alongside opportunities for those just starting out in their careers.”

The London Literature Festival 2025 will take place from October 21st to November 2nd.
