"I prefer to teach young girls that they don't need to be pleasing and conform to what everyone expects of them." Now, just six months after the release of her second project, the pop sensation is entering a new phase with her latest EP. “‘Voyeur’ reflects my journey into becoming an artist and someone who is looked up to,” shares the 22-year-old. This collection of work captures her experiences with the challenges of young adulthood while adapting to public attention; the eight-track project has already generated conversation online. “I've always had a relatively young fanbase, which leads people to believe that I must be agreeable,” she observes, alluding to the controversy surrounding the title. “However, I would rather empower young girls to realize they do not need to be pleasing or fit into what others want them to be.”

The EP candidly explores her relationships and experiences, revealing Alessi’s unwaveringly bold perspective. “The voyeurism works in two ways; those who listen to my music become voyeurs as they learn my deeply personal stories, but I am also a voyeur of my life and choices,” she elaborates. From the raw declaration in ‘Dumb Girl’—“Your tongue fits in my mouth / Like it’s by design”—to the heartache of unreciprocated love in the edgy guitar anthem ‘Same Mouth’, or the emotional aftermath of a friendship ending in the ‘90s indie rock-inspired ‘Stella’, ‘Voyeur’ showcases the singer's embrace of her artistic liberty.

Created over the last six months across her hometown and in studios in London and LA, the EP signifies a change in Alessi’s creative approach. “I've grown much more comfortable with the label of pop,” she says. Initially uncertain if her lyric-centric style could align with the genre, it was ultimately the timeless classics by Britney and Madonna from the ‘80s that affirmed her direction. “I don’t believe you need to give anything up by identifying as a pop artist; there’s vast potential.” This idea comes to life in the EP highlight ‘Take It or Leave It’, which combines clever, poetic storytelling with a catchy, hook-driven chorus, offering a fierce retort to a non-committal partner.

As she paves the way for a new generation of pop stars, Alessi’s personal anthems continue to resonate worldwide. With a series of festival appearances this summer (including a set at Madrid’s Mad Cool this month) and her third headlining tour planned for this autumn—alongside supporting Tate McRae in North America—her name is sure to remain in the public eye. However, as her audience grows, it is the loyalty of her fans (affectionately known as ‘delulu girls’) that remains pivotal. “Performing for any size crowd who are there for you and are passionate about your music is the best feeling ever—they're the reason I do this,” she beams.

Whether making her Glastonbury debut by opening the Other Stage or revealing her next single projected onto Wembley Stadium, Alessi Rose has clearly discovered her strength in turning her deepest feelings into grand pop experiences. If the past 18 months are any indication, she appears to be on the path to headlining arenas soon. Alessi Rose will perform at the Mad Cool Festival, which takes place from July 10th to 13th, 2025, in Villaverde, Madrid. For more details and ticket information, visit madcoolfestival.es.
