Montreal's creative talent JayWood has released a new song titled ‘SUN BABY’.
The Polaris Music Prize nominee recently indicated his comeback, with his new album ‘Leo Negro’ set to be released on September 5th.
Scheduled to come out through Captured Tracks, JayWood has provided a new preview that reflects the overall themes of the album.
With a golden soul reminiscent of Marvin Gaye, ‘SUN BABY’ incorporates the relaxed funk of Khurangbin, while still firmly establishing its unique identity.
In terms of lyrics, JayWood reaches for the stars, utilizing astrology to explore various aspects of himself in an effort to find a sense of wholeness.

Here's a brief astrology lesson: the Leo star sign is governed by the sun, and in my natal chart, my sun sign is Leo while my moon sign is Aquarius. My rising sign is Libra, which represents balance. This essentially means that my big three consist of stark contrasts. Leo embodies a leader with an attention-capturing confidence, in contrast to my moon sign which reflects a shy, introverted artistic observer, and my rising sign seeks equilibrium between the two. This dynamic is the central theme of the entire album; it's a battle for my identity.
