Sim Fane Wins the Ninja Tune x Tracklib Competition with ‘NNeed U’

The song was selected as the winner of the sample/production competition from nearly 1000 submissions.

On 14th July 2025, rising Dutch producer Sim Fane emerged victorious with his reinterpretation of Nicole Bus’ ‘Freeline’, transforming the sultry RnB original into an energetic club track titled ‘NNeed U’.

“It’s fluid, restless, and full of contrast – intimate yet designed for large sound systems,” says Sim Fane about this creation that oscillates between ethereal atmospherics and dynamic UKG beats. “It’s a track for dancers who appreciate emotional depth while still wanting something hard-hitting.”

This release represents the conclusion of a months-long competition organized by the music sample and licensing platform Tracklib in collaboration with Ninja Tune. Initiated to celebrate three decades of sampling in electronic music, the competition attracted hundreds of submissions and garnered millions of views for Tracklib’s iconic sample breakdown video featured in the launch.

As an up-and-coming DJ/producer within the electronic scene, Sim Fane’s music draws influences from UK bass, experimental pop, and ambient sounds.

Next, Sim Fane will perform at ‘Dial Up LDN’ at Peckham Audio in London on 21st September.
