The artist, known as Zoë Mead, is a remarkable talent, with her 2022 album ‘Feed The Flowers Nightmares’ noted for its lyrical depth and thoughtful execution.
The new song ‘All It Would Take Is A Phone Call’ marks a new phase in her artistic journey, focusing specifically on familial estrangement.
Delicately understated, the quiet power of the piece gives the lyrics considerable weight – it explores the theme of fraying connections and regret, as she sings, “Now you’re just another memory / Locked away inside my veins / On your way to leave an everlasting stain”.
Now available, the song comes with a self-produced video captured by Wyldest on the moors of Connemara in Western Ireland.
“I stumbled upon a large egg-shaped monument called the Marconi and was intrigued. It stood alone in a remote area – a tribute to Guglielmo Marconi, the inventor of the first wireless telecommunication device. I found it ironically relevant,” Wyldest remarks.
Regarding the song, she shares…
“This piece addresses the breakdown of communication in relationships, particularly emphasizing familial connections. I find this topic compelling, as I've witnessed and experienced that in the Western world, family relationships can often become defaulted, where parents, children, and siblings may grow estranged. Yet, there remains an unspoken expectation of a bond that seems to hold people together, even as the reality of a once-strong connection fades into emptiness – leaving a group of estranged individuals navigating a set of rules, pretending to know and love one another.” “‘Now you’re just another memory locked away inside my veins’” reflects on the concept of shared lineage while simultaneously being distant from another individual… I believe it’s crucial to reconsider the idea of ‘blood ties’ in our society and to embrace love and care for others, regardless of whether we are linked by blood or not.”
