Yazmin Lacey will unveil her new album ‘Teal Dreams’ on October 24th.
The UK singer is truly a gem, consistently surprising listeners with each new project. Her 2023 album ‘Voice Notes’ was an impressive, fully realized work, and since its release, she collaborated on Ezra Collective’s catchy track ‘God Gave Me Feet For Dancing’.
The upcoming album ‘Teal Dreams’ represents another progression for her. Scheduled for release on October 24th through AMF Records, Yazmin announced her return a few weeks ago with the heartfelt single ‘Ain’t I Good For You’.
Her knack for intimate storytelling continues with the new track ‘Two Steps’, which shifts between alt-soul and jazz-influenced sounds, featuring a dynamic bass line by Miles James.
Stating her intent for creative independence, Yazmin shares:
‘Two Steps’ represents my line in the sand; it’s sharp, unapologetic, and long overdue. It captures the rhythm of a toxic relationship where both parties are out of sync, stepping on each other's toes and pushing boundaries. The song was born from the frustration of feeling like an option rather than a priority, and from allowing too much to go unaddressed for too long. ‘Two Steps’ is about reclaiming my strength. It's bold, passionate, and showcases a side of me I haven't revealed in my music before.
Women often struggle to express anger without being labeled, so I provided a space for mine here. ‘Two Steps’ reflects the sharpness of my voice. It’s a warning to others; it’s feisty, fierce, and raw. It's time for people to do better. And I need to do better for myself too.
