At last, peak summer is here, and you can witness some of the biggest names and emerging talents all gathered on one island at Montréal’s 2025 Osheaga Festival!
For me, summer doesn't truly begin until Osheaga weekend arrives. Sure, we've enjoyed nice weather for weeks and there have been other events—it's August, after all—but Osheaga marks the true inception of summer fun. It’s three days filled with magic, coinciding with the start of Montréal’s Pride Month. Let’s dive in.
Set in the iconic Parc Jean-Drapeau and featuring some of today’s hottest touring acts, this festival consistently impresses us. This year’s lineup, which includes talents like Lucy Dacus, Olivia Rodrigo, and Cage the Elephant, will be no different. However, it’s not just about the major names; Osheaga is a festival in its own right, where new careers are launched, unforgettable memories are created, and summer tans are solidified. Read on to discover the artists to impress your friends with, the must-see performances, and the perfect spots for selfies that will leave your friends envious.
**Osheaga Festival 2025 lineup**
1. **Doechii’s Chappell Moment**
Last year's ascent of the Midwest Princess will be a tough act to follow. Chappell Roan sold out Osheaga during her 3 PM Saturday headlining slot, marking yet another achievement in her impressive festival history. It was among the top five moments in Osheaga's history, and few events may ever surpass it. However, let's not overlook the potential of Doechii's victory lap, which could mirror Roan's brilliance this year. Scheduled to perform midway through The Killers’ set (there's no question which stage I’ll be at), rap’s newest sensation will captivate those who aren’t entirely devoted to Hot Fuss. Her latest album, the nearly flawless *Alligator Bites Never Heal*, is among the finest in recent rap history, and her talent has only grown since. Have you seen her in next month’s Vogue? Doechii is the star of the moment, and she will undoubtedly be this year’s can't-miss highlight.
2. **Tyler, The Creator’s New Album**
In case you missed it, this rapper recently released a surprise album: Tyler, The Creator is currently a major sensation. Even while on tour for *CHROMAKOPIA*—a poignant examination of modern masculinity and fatherhood—Tyler demonstrates his relentless creativity by dropping *DON’T TAP THE GLASS*. This new album focuses on reviving the joy of dancing. With irresistible beats that will have you moving and his signature flow, it meets his exceptionally high standards. On Saturday night, you’ll witness him perform it live. Just remember to put your phone down and enjoy the moment.
3. **Atwood’s Rising Stars**
What’s a music festival without discovering a new undercard favorite, a name you can't wait to share with friends?! Don’t worry, Atwood has you covered this year!
- **Dua Saleh**
One of the most intriguing RnB artists today, Minnesota’s own Dua Saleh provides an experience unlike any other. Their debut album, *I SHOULD CALL THEM,* showcases silky smooth vocals and striking staccato bursts, with a vocal range that is as impressive as the mesmerizing production. Their collaboration with serpentwithfeet feels like a cosmic union, making the world a better place. Saleh is on the verge of a significant breakthrough, so catch them now before they grace the main stage in a few years.
- **Mint Simon**
This list would be incomplete without local talent, and Mint Simon is truly exciting. Their sound embodies pure '80s magic, channeled through Harry Styles and LP influences. It’s pure ecstasy, filled with neon lights and soaring vocals. Scheduled to perform at 5:15 PM on Saturday, they offer the perfect kickoff to an evening packed with excellent music. I challenge you not to dance, not to sing along, and ultimately not to fall in love with Mint Simon.
- **salute**
This selection is for my dance enthusiasts: salute is a masterpiece of EDM, reinterpreting beloved classics with contemporary beats that are impossible to resist. salute brings the technical skill, connections, and flair of a great DJ, and all of it will be showcased on Friday evening. It promises to be a show you don’t want to miss—an ideal chance to let loose and dance the night away.
4. **The View of Montréal, Right?!**
Montréal stands as Canada’s cultural hub, and it’s also visually stunning. While I could suggest a week’s worth of activities beyond Osheaga, the view of the skyline from Parc Jean-Drapeau is unmatched. For a picture that will get everyone talking in your group chat, venture behind the main stage, past the vendors,
