The Last Dinner Party Cancels Victorious Festival in Support of The Mary Wallopers

The Irish band had their performance interrupted due to pro-Palestinian messages.

The Last Dinner Party have decided to withdraw from their appearance at the Victorious Festival in support of The Mary Wallopers.

The Irish band performed at the festival on August 22nd, but their set was “cut off” when they attempted to show solidarity with Palestine.

The Mary Wallopers attempted to unveil a Palestinian flag and led the audience in a pro-Palestinian chant, which led to their stage's sound being terminated.

Clash writer Chris Connor, who was present in the audience, described how fans were left “shocked” by these events.

Now, The Last Dinner Party has chosen to cancel their participation in the Victorious Festival. They were scheduled to perform later today, but that performance will no longer take place.

In a recent statement, the BRIT Award-winning band expressed their “outrage” over the festival's actions, stating they “cannot support political censorship.”

By withdrawing from Victorious, the band expressed their disappointment with efforts to divert attention from the genocide in order to uphold an apolitical image.

They apologized to their fans, stating that they are “devastated to be placed in this position that disturbs both us and you.”
