Bob Dylan has a deep passion for music. In his book *Chronicles*, the songwriter frequently references the works of other artists, and during his *Theme Time Radio Hour* broadcasts, he often shares his admiration for his influences. He is well-known for visiting the childhood homes of fellow songwriters, including an unexpected trip to the Canadian location where Neil Young grew up.
Many are familiar with Dylan's memorable visit to Bruce Springsteen's childhood home, where New Jersey's iconic musician found him wandering the streets. However, a few years earlier, Dylan had a similar experience in Winnipeg.
While walking along Grosvenor Avenue, he was seen near the location where Neil Young played sports and developed his guitar skills.
The visit occurred in 2008 before a concert in the Canadian city, and the current resident, John Kiernan, was taken aback to spot Bob Dylan standing near his lawn on a sunny day.
In an interview with CBC News, he recounted his wife chatting with two unfamiliar faces: “As I looked around, I noticed that the guy wearing a tuque had some really impressive cowboy or motorcycle boots on. He was also dressed in nice leather pants. That’s when it hit me that I was standing face-to-face with Bob Dylan.”
Kiernan invited Bob Dylan and his manager into his home, where the songwriter posed many insightful questions about the house and asked where Neil Young's bedroom was located.
“He wanted to know, ‘So this is what he saw from his window, and this is where he listened to his music.' It suddenly struck me that standing there with Bob Dylan in the hallway, he had a very similar experience 200 miles south, in his own room, listening to music and looking out his window.”
The two musicians share a long-standing and respectful friendship—here's Dylan performing a classic by Neil Young.
