Blawan has shared information about his upcoming debut album with XL Recordings, titled ‘SickElixir’.
The album is set to be released on October 10th and represents Jamie Roberts’ most personal work to date, featuring a collection that explores themes of grief, family trauma, and significant life changes through music that is both powerful and profoundly reflective.
This announcement comes with the first single, ‘NOS’, a track that captures the vitality and precision that characterizes the entire album. ‘NOS’ welcomes listeners into a sonic landscape that builds upon the sounds of Blawan’s recent EPs – ‘BouQ’, ‘Dismantled Into Juice’, and ‘Woke Up Right Handed’ – while establishing the foundation for his most ambitious vision to this date.
Produced across Berlin, Leeds, Paris, and Lisbon, ‘SickElixir’ serves as a declaration of Blawan’s artistic vision. Known for his meticulous approach, Blawan has been carving out his niche in electronic music since his debut in the early 2010s with EPs released through Hinge Finger and Hessle Audio. His musical journey began in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, where his initial experience working at a maggot farm left an unexpected impact on his sound. Subsequently, the West Indian Centre in Leeds exposed him to a broad range of electronic music, steering him toward a path marked by innovation and collaboration.
In conjunction with the album launch, Blawan has revealed two headline live performances; one at London’s Village Underground on October 10th and another at Amsterdam’s Parallel on October 22nd, as well as a series of prominent festival appearances.
With ‘SickElixir’, Blawan solidifies his status as one of the most distinctive and inventive voices in electronic music.
Tune in now.
