Experience rare tracks from both the vinyl and digital editions...
Sigur Rós has announced the upcoming release of a special 20th anniversary edition of their renowned album ‘Takk…’ through Krunk.
Few bands can penetrate the hustle and distractions of the world to deliver a raw elemental truth or emotion quite like the Icelandic post-rock group. Two years after the release of ‘Átta’, their most personal and emotionally resonant album to date, and during a global orchestral tour, they reflect on two decades since their major label debut, marking a commercial success for a band that has never chased mainstream appeal—the album achieved platinum status in the UK and sold over 200,000 copies in its first year in the US.
A limited box set featuring 5×10” vinyl, restricted to 3,000 copies, is now available for order exclusively at sigurros.com, while the 3×12” vinyl and 1xCD formats will hit the stores on September 26th, coinciding with the release of the digital version for streaming and download.
An art print for ‘Takk…’ will also be offered as an indie exclusive alongside the 3×12” vinyl at select retailers. All formats have been remastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound.
The announcement accompanies the availability of five rare tracks from the vinyl and digital editions of the ‘Takk…’ reissue for streaming today. This includes the original b-sides from the 2006 ‘Sæglópur’ EP, along with two previously unreleased tracks, ‘Melrakki’ and ‘Elfur,’ composed and recorded prior to the making of ‘Takk…’.
Furthermore, a newly created Dolby Atmos spatial mix of the album will be digitally released on the actual anniversary of September 12th.
