Just a few weeks after releasing her first new material in over three years, Australian singer-songwriter Stella Donnelly returns with exciting news of a brand-new album. Following the release of her poignant singles, ‘Baths’ and ‘Standing Ovation,’ last month, she has announced her third album, ‘Love and Fortune,’ which will be released on November 7 via Brace Yourself Records in the UK and Europe, and Dot Dash Recordings for the rest of the world.
‘Love and Fortune’ emerged after a hiatus from touring and a time of self-reflection regarding her passion for music and her future in it. The album was recorded in Naarm/Melbourne with longtime friends and collaborators Marcel Tussie, Jack Gaby, and Julia Wallace, along with new contributors Sophie Ozard, Timothy Harvey, and Ellie Mason. In a press release, Stella stated, “These songs wouldn’t leave me alone. Like seagulls, they screamed at me while I rode to work, they pecked at me while I wrote essays, and they stole my chips the moment I thought I could be happy without music.”
The album will consist of eleven tracks, featuring her previously released singles along with a new song she has just unveiled, the haunting and captivating ‘Feel It Change.’ “I wrote this song on a baritone guitar in the shed of my sharehouse, plugged into all of my housemate’s overdrive pedals,” Stella shares about the track. “I think the neighbors got annoyed after a while because I lingered on the same chords for ages. It explores the process of gradually peeling off the band-aid of a relationship that was bound to end. It captures that phase of a breakup where all you feel is resentment and blame.”

The sequel to her 2022 album ‘Flood’ is scheduled to be released this November.
