"Shocked" James' Tim Booth Responds Angrily After Tommy Robinson Utilizes ‘Sit Down’

"No permission was granted, and we are exploring our options..."

James' lead singer Tim Booth has criticized Tommy Robinson's "cynical" and unauthorized use of the song 'Sit Down' during the march yesterday.

The controversial figure from the UK far right organized the United The Kingdom rally in Central London, where the Metropolitan Police estimated the attendance at around 110,000 people.

During the speeches, Tommy Robinson made use of James' classic indie anthem 'Sit Down,' which prompted the band's disapproval.

The song promotes messages of peace, harmony, and unity, and James has consistently supported socially progressive causes in their lyrics, interviews, and live performances.

In a tweet, Tim Booth expressed his "disgust" at the "cynical" usage of the song by Robinson. "No permission was granted, and we are exploring our options. The song and most of our lyrics clearly convey our stance, which is in direct opposition to this organization."

The Farm's early 90s track 'All Together Now' was also appropriated by Robinson, with Peter Hooton from the group stating: "He did the same with 'All Together Now' last week. We contacted our record label, but since Musk took over, it seems more challenging to have these videos removed—what a surprise..."

Tim Booth responded with, "Using songs of unity for a divisive agenda."
