Following the launch of their self-titled EP last year, the Cork-based band Cardinals, consisting of five members, has announced that their debut album, ‘Masquerade’, is set to be released on 13th February through So Young. The ten-track album was recorded with Shrink at RAK Studios in London and aims to delve beneath the surface of contemporary society, uncovering a darker aspect of discord and vulnerability, divided into two distinct sections. Frontman Euan Manning elaborated on the album's core themes, stating: “The record examines the idea of peeling back the ‘masquerade’ or the facade we all present. Once the curtain is drawn back, cynicism takes the forefront - it’s much easier to be cynical than to remain hopeful and sincere. We've discovered this through performing and touring, but you can’t be entirely cynical when creating music, films, or any art; the creative process compels you to explore deeper than that protective shell.” He further noted: “Stripping it down can be painful, revealing aspects you're not particularly proud of, but it also leads to a kind of acceptance that can only be reached by embracing that vulnerability. Many of the themes and concepts in the album stem from that place.” You can listen to the album's recently released title track and find the complete tracklist below. ‘Masquerade’ tracklist: 1.
