Women In Jazz has announced plans for a new compilation.
The organization was established to promote and support women in the UK jazz scene, hosting various special events to bring diverse voices together.
The latest confirmation is the forthcoming compilation titled ‘Women In Jazz Vol. 1,’ which showcases a range of new music and will be released on October 16th.
You can pre-order the compilation here.
In conjunction with the release, Women In Jazz have also announced a special event at Kiosk, Coal Drops Yard on October 25th that promises to be a highlight.
Louise Paley shared: “I am delighted to announce a significant milestone for Women in Jazz. This year is designated The Year of Women in Jazz: a project celebrating the wide-ranging voices of women in jazz. Last year, we conducted a thorough examination of the experiences within our community. The results revealed the challenges and opportunities faced by women in this field. This initiative is very close to my heart as it reflects the untapped potential and stories that are waiting to be shared within the UK Jazz scene.”
The compilation features a new piece from Yazz Ahmed – the acclaimed jazz trumpeter and composer has created ‘My Heart Will Not Forget You,’ a heartfelt expression of longing that serves as a fitting introduction to the upcoming release.
