Brian Nasty Collaborates with Eyedress on 'Wipe My Tears'

      Brian will also perform at O2 Academy Brixton on November 4th in support of Loyle Carner, along with Chuck Strangers during a series of UK/EU shows in October.

      London artist Brian Nasty collaborates with Filipino musician on his new single, ‘Wipe My Tears’ – a sweet, slow funk track taken from Brian’s ongoing mixtape project, ‘Anywhere But Here With You’.

      ‘Wipe My Tears’ features two narrators dealing with the aftermath of a breakup, grappling with fluctuating feelings of apathy and bitterness toward their ex-partner.

      Regarding the collaboration, Brian shares: “[Eyedress] came to London a few years back and reached out to me saying, ‘Hey, I’m in London. Let’s create a song. It’s time. Bring a guitar and your interface, and we’ll record something in my hotel room’ since I didn’t have a studio at that time. We created the demo in June 2021, and afterwards, we discussed making more music together. In February 2022, we completed the track in LA. Due to the piano and string focus of the first half of the tape [Side A], I thought, ‘I really love this song, but it doesn’t quite align with this group of tracks.’ So, I kept it in the vault. Now feels like the right moment because it links the two concepts. I wanted to convey what it might sound like if Max B and Jimi Hendrix collaborated, which was the inspiration behind the song.”

      ‘Wipe My Tears’ is the latest installment from ‘Anywhere But Here With You’, a project serving as a personal time capsule, a dream diary, and a tribute to the journey of growth. It features previous singles such as ‘Two’, ‘Here With You’, ‘I Have Nothing More To Tell You’, and ‘Good Boy’ (feat. Wiki). The series chronicles the span of life over three pivotal years, capturing moments of stillness, chaos, and quiet transformation.

Massive Attack have refuted online claims that they utilize facial recognition technology in their live performances. The Bristol-based project is at the cutting edge of technology, art, and progressive political movements, strongly advocating for eco-politics and solidarity with Palestine. They frequently employ satire in their acts to critique authoritarian mindsets, although it appears one particular reference has been misunderstood by some. During an animated segment, the band parodied the implementation of facial recognition, which led to inaccurate reports suggesting that Massive Attack is collecting data from their audience. In a statement, the iconic Bristol group labeled these claims as "outright lies" while seeking to clarify the situation. “Last week, several platforms, including ‘Somewhere.Media’, ‘Hidden’, and others published stories concerning our live show and the supposed use of live facial recognition technology. “Propagated through the mindless replication channels of AI-generated Instagram accounts, the ‘story’ gained momentum, and between entertainment platforms and AI clone thought, nobody took the time to fact-check. Falsehoods and blatant lies spread alongside likes and shares. ‘Somewhere Media’ failed to adhere to any basic reporting standards, claiming that show material was ‘sourced from public databases.’” “No Massive Attack live show has ever recorded or retained personal data,” they further noted; “Only government bodies, authorized entities, and licensed contractors can access public databases in the UK, and it would be impossible to do this across multiple cities/countries.” Massive Attack went on to criticize the usage of public facial recognition in the UK, stating that the government is “exceeding almost all other western democracies in its use of public facial recognition … while there exists no specific legislation governing police use of these systems.” Recently, Massive Attack made an appearance at Kneecap’s OVO Wembley Arena concert to publicly support the Belfast band.
