Feminist powerhouse Paris Paloma has unveiled 'Good Boy', a profound examination of men's complicity in patriarchy, along with a visually striking, star-studded music video. If the song's initial lines seem recognizable, that's because they reference journalist Rebecca Shaw’s viral op-ed headline (“I knew one day I’d have to watch powerful men burn the world down / I just didn’t expect them to be such losers”). These opening lyrics are spoken by the beloved Emma Thompson, whom Paris first encountered while working on Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim. The video for 'Good Boy' also features actor Tom Blyth, who portrays the eponymous character—a man who is both a contributor to and a victim of patriarchal power systems. Paris elaborated on the song's theme, stating: “'Good Boy' conveys a message to men that you share more common ground with me, and with ordinary women, than with the powerful men perpetuating capitalist patriarchy; so don’t play their good boy. “Any immediate response to women who critique and fight against patriarchy by labeling them as ‘man haters’ only harms yourself, reinforcing a system that alienates and betrays you, separating you from community and love. Those in power won’t reward you for supporting a system that harms you while it benefits them. You’ll gain nothing, not even a simple ‘good boy’.” Watch the captivating video below.
