American DJ and producer Eris Drew will take charge of an edition of the esteemed DJ-Kicks mix series.
This long-running mix series is always a topic of conversation, as its rich history compels DJs to elevate their performances and showcase their finest work. Eris Drew has long served as an inspiration, and her interpretation of the series is sure to provoke discussion.
Scheduled for release on November 14th, the mix focuses on the essential elements of her connection to club culture, incorporating personal favorites alongside a number of exclusives.
As a musician, producer, and DJ, Eris Drew developed her craft during a lengthy residency at Chicago’s Smartbar, and she is also the co-creator of the T4T LUV NRG party and label.
The upcoming mix taps into “the funky, emotional, ecstatic house-and-breaks foundation that characterizes my sound,” and features tracks, remixes, and exclusives from Moby, Calisto, DJ Garth, Onionz, DJ Who, Kair, Hoof, and Toka Project, along with contributions from Eris herself and her partner Octo Octa.
The mix was assembled using just two turntables and a mixer at her cabin studio in New Hampshire, reflecting the need for joy in a tumultuous world.
She stated: “I recorded it in my cabin with the chaotic world surrounding me. Being in my sanctuary in the forest was crucial; the mix had to embody the essence of that place and the inspiration I gain from it.”
“I wanted the mix to evoke the feeling of climbing a mountain – to create an ecstatic sense of triumph.”
Now available for pre-order, the complete tracklist has been revealed and presents an eclectic and enticing selection. As Eris puts it: “I’m an all-vinyl DJ with over 30 years of experience in mixing, and I believe the mix reflects that.”
