Hold on. Is Charli XCX working on a response to Taylor Swift’s ‘Actually Romantic’…?

Charli XCX has shared a studio clip, leading to speculation that she could be getting ready to respond to Taylor Swift's "Actually Romantic."

The American artist launched her new album, "The Life Of A Showgirl," over the weekend, which sparked a global wave of reactions. One track, in particular, caught attention; "Actually Romantic" appears to be a diss track, and Charli XCX might be the target.

The lyrics make mention of an "ex" who "ghosted" Taylor, possibly referring to Matty Healy, the lead singer of The 1975. With a reference to "coke," fans suspect that the UK artist is the focus of Taylor Swift's frustration.

      Taylor sings:

"I heard you call me ‘Boring Barbie’ when the coke's got you brave / High-fived my ex and then said you’re glad he ghosted me / Wrote me a song saying it makes you sick to see my face/ Some people might be offended / But it’s actually sweet / All the time you’ve spent on me."

Taylor Swift recorded a track-by-track analysis for Amazon Music regarding her new album, where she expressed the following about "Actually Romantic":

“It positions itself as if they resent you or have an issue with you, but you take that and interpret it as love, as attention and affection, showing how flattering it is that someone has made you such a significant part of their reality without you even realizing it. When you think about it, it's quite romantic.”

The speculation suggests that Taylor might be reacting to Charli’s song "Sympathy Is A Knife," in which Charli explored feelings of jealousy and inadequacy when around Taylor:

      In the song, Charli sings:

"I couldn’t even be her if I tried / I’m opposite, I’m on the other side / I feel all these feelings I can’t control."

Now, Charli XCX has posted a studio clip. Could she be crafting a response? Her song "BRAT" highlight "Girl, so confusing" addressed her feelings toward Lorde, leading to an emotional remix.

It remains to be seen if this situation will unfold similarly… Here’s the studio clip in question.
